warmth - privacy from god - black horizons - cass - 9$
After a long silence we are all treated to a new Warmth release. Steev took his time on this release, as is it intended to be a proper full length. Packed full of subtly and barely there sounds, static and mechanical in nature. This work is dynamic, beautiful, and haunting, emotional yet showing complete restraint, and hopefully not the last we will hear from this project. A near perfect expression of minimalism through sound. Packaged in a clear plastic clam shell, with silver offset printing on black vellum paper for layered effect. Edition of 100 copies on hi-bias chrome tapes with silver labels. Click here to view a larger picture of the design.

body vehicle - being being - black horizons – 2xcass - 10$
65 minutes spread out over 4 sides. Presented as a retrospective, including some previously released select tracks, and some not heard before. The style can vary from track to track, some dominated by small sounds and buzzing loops, to epic and beautiful drone pieces, and electro-acoustic improv fused with noise. Instruments that are audible include saxophone, guitar, and drum machine. Bodyvehicle manages to keep the avant garde classics in mind while still looking forward in a way that few acts can. Presented in a black vinyl album, with color art on blue/gold shimmer vellum cover and color on transparent labels. Tracks listing is printed on blue shimmer paper, which is glued to the inside. Edition of 50 hand stamp #'ed copies on hi-bias chrome tapes. Click here to see more detailed images of the packaging.

wolfmangler - cooking with wolves - black horizons – lp - 16$
This is the vinyl edition of Wolfmangler's CD release on Digitalis Industries, minus the bonus tracks. The core tracks of the release make for a perfect LP. This has been extensively written up all over the place, so I won't go into detail, expect avant folk by way of doom metal depression. All acoustic. Packaged in a silkscreened glue pocket sleeve, red and silver on black stock, same as the CD version, but with expanded art. Includes 3 inserts, screened in the same colors with printed labels. Edition of 500, 250 on black and 250 on red.

aemae - and tongueless, i can conjure you at will - black horizons – cass - 6$
Over the last few years Brandon Nickel has been honing his sound and making a name for himself with the, as of recent, very impressive Isounderscore label. Not afraid to embrace technology, Aemae sounds is at times restrained, and at times a whirling maelstrom of ones and zeros, yet always carefully constructed, each release taking months of editing and re-editing. Here the sound falls into the later, more intense mode of Aemae, and a fitting way to retire the name, as Mr. Nickel is using his own name to perform under. Comprised of edited live material, yet the heightened composure is still evident. The a-side is a lot of gear, screaming at each other more or less really, digital mulch. The flip offers a slightly more restrained sound, and could be visually compared to a sheer obsidian cliff on a foreign planet where the air is ten times the density of our own planet, the geological formation slowly rising along the horizon until it falls off the edge. Silver offset ink on metallic black stock, 2-panel j-card. Edition of 111 copies on hi-bias chrome tapes.

the north sea - royal arsenal - black horizons – cass - 6$
Two ten minute tracks come smeared across this tape from Brad Rose's The North Sea. Drone music, slowly shifting, and peppered with acoustic folk-oriented instruments and percussion, hinting at this artist's background, but obviously looking forward to a drastic change in sound that is obvious from his recent releases under this project as well as activity in Ajilvsga. Color digital printing on a royal arsenal of metallic vellums; silver, gold, plum, purple. 2-panel j-card, 1 panel of real m

grasslung - in bad fields - black horizons – cass - 6$
Two new tracks of brutal synth minimalism from Jonas Asher, the man behind Grasslung and also the excellent Phaserprone. This release finds him operating under a tense, fearful, and lonely sound environment, a trait hinted at on older releases, but I feel realized to an even fuller extent here. This is his first work off his own label, and the packaging was something that I felt was very important for this release in particular, given the peerless visual aesthetic the artist has already set forth; OBIs, letterpressing, diecuts, etc. All packaging is offset printed in silver ink, on metallic black cardstock. There is an OBI, with 3 asymmetric cut outs done by hand, as well as a 2-panel j-card with more curved edges. Labels are blank silver, and each copy comes with a blackened nail. Edition of 100 copies on hi-bias chrome tapes.

the six heads - the popeye scat - black horizons – cass - 6$
This cassette moves with surprising fragility and restraint for a six member experimental project, the sound infected with a surrealist vibe, not too dissimilar to the audio equivalent of a Tanguy painting, or maybe Mlehst on quaaludes. Floating through blue green vapors, only occasionally does concrete reality come to the forefront. Two sidelong tracks filled with alien instrumentation, and title appropriate tape collage. Few releases and some high profile collaborating make this a release to investigate further. Color digital printed three panel transparent j-card, and a one panel unique art for each copy, floating orchids over rainbow blood on gray cardstock. Silver labels, black hi-bias chrome tapes. Edition of 100.

anakrid - ceaselessly out of a cloudless sky - black horizons – cass - 6$
The third and final tape for Anakrid on Black Horizons. As per Mr. Bickel's usual unexpected style, expect to be surprised. The a-side is what I would come to expect from this project, an impressively composed piece of deep analogue dark ambiance, while the flip is a bit of a change up, where this project's often latent violent underpinning is fully exposed in a 15 minute piece entitled acidpianoharp, consisting of a harsh acoustic assault on the ears, thousands of tiny sounds strung together to form a swarm. Packaged in the Anakrid for BH tape style, consisting of a color transparency layered on top of various marbled pieces of paper. This time with the addition of a vertical transparent floating OBI, all held in place with rivets. Edition of 100 copies on BLACK hi bias chrome tapes. Silver labels with the Black Horizons color touch.

teeth collection - purtridity and liquescence - black horizons – cass - 6$
Three extended tracks of cosmic feedback, haunting percussion and dense oscillation, bathed in glorious analogue reverb, Teeth Collection's trademark sound. Presented in a raw manner to compliment the sound, hi-quality digital printing on metallic paper in random silver or black, contains an envelope with insert and paste-on, silver foil labels with the Black Horizons touch. Edition of 90, hi-bias chrome forever.

anakrid - crash your putrid minds - black horizons – cass - 6$
"Confused alien clockwork music on this release". Thick and strange beats fill both sides of this tape, always floating in a thick synth syrup and filled with finely crafted loops. Squeaky doors and backwards footsteps. Upcoming releases that are sure to impress. Hand made j-card in the same style as the previous Anakrid tape, color labels in an edition of 100 on hi-bias chrome tapes.

uton- live in the center of the world - black horizons – cass - 6$
Double A-side tape, played in reverse on the B, this documents an Uton live show. More abrasive than recorded output. Acoustics, vocal mantras, and pulsating drone that leave you confused when it is all over with. Offset printed gold on platinum vellum, clear labels "touched by the golden hand" in an edition of 100 copies on hi-bias chrome tapes.
