‘one by one the cities fell, the lights went out. the world was dissolving, taking its stories with it. soon it would be gone… the green fields of summer, the abandoned, time-stilled towns, the forests thick with shadow… they were like a vision, they had slipped into eternity, a zone beyond time. there and not there, a presence unseen but felt, like stars in the daytime sky.’ justin cronin, the twelve
dark and mysterious music for heathen dances around the fire in your living room. immerse yourself in ancient wisdom.

beware, this one is a concept album. hans dens’ style all around, his trademark disturbing lofi-foundsound-loops, but i have a feeling this one is a bit more conceptional as his many other works. in the beginning of each side of this massive tape there is no hope in sight, just darkness and confusion, but hans won’t let the listener alone in a fragmented soundscape, instead he takes him by the hand and lead him to some kind of extatic light. once per side, unforgetable and life changing.
sounds that orchestrate your traumas and your dreams. the witchdoctor knows you will need it for your next self healing listening session.

  • creation VI – akroamatikos – cosmic winnetou

    out of stock

this record was inspired by ancient greek philosophy and reflects cosmological process, as it was described in the heraclitus work. endlessly continuing creation of the world, soundtrack to the universe, aural architectonics of one, that becomes many. hierarchically organised cosmos, from stardust to every living creature on each planet, from violet void to the singularity.
drones huge and mysterious like the cosmos. close your eyes to be lost in its immersity. now.

“…and now pay attention to what I am about to tell you – heaven itself, indeed, will recall it to your recollection. first you will come to the sirens who enchant all who come near them. if any one unwarily draws in too close and hears the singing of the sirens, his wife and children will never welcome him home again, for they sit in a green field and warble him to death with the sweetness of their song. there is a great heap of dead men’s bones lying all around, with the flesh still rotting off them. therefore pass these sirens by, and stop your men’s ears with wax that none of them may hear; but if you like you can listen yourself, for you may get the men to bind you as you stand upright on a cross piece half way up the mast, and they must lash the rope’s ends to the mast itself, that you may have the pleasure of listening. if you beg and pray the men to unloose you, then they must bind you faster.” homer, the odyssey, 12th book
mysterious synth stuff. dramatic, melodic, droney, overwhelmingly beautiful.

  • kyle landstra – sage – cosmic winnetou

    out of stock

these two side long tracks were recorded in may and june of 2012 respectively and created in an improvised manner using a roland juno-106, loop pedal among other effects pedals. the title ‘sage’ references cleansing properties of the white sage plant and its ability to clear energy of beings or objects by means of the smudging technique. this allows the user to go through a process of inner rejuvenation, while moving forward, allowing them to perceive the outer world with a clean slate.
cosmic sounds for herbal healing. a must have in every little indian’s first aid kit.

we are not good in words, therefore we make music.
    florian schneider
mark bradley obviously loves this quote. but just by listening to “offerings” you sense his deep knowledge of the 70s german kosmische musik. the feeling of everything is kept in slow motion while playing the tape. stumbling over melted moonlight with the wisdom of supernatural probabilities. timeless structures switching to freeway notions. your fingers producing traces while moved in front of your eyes. power plants humming in the dark, irrlicht between your feet.
but besides this kosmische quality bradleys music has structure. the track order is like a big cycle, the tracks themselves sometimes like songs, droning verse, minimalist chorus, droning verse. tape slicing copy and paste anachronisms. superb.
kraftwerk’s conceptionalism combined with high quality kosmische lift off. you will love it.

  • gimu – the whole world is tired today – comsic winnetou

    out of stock

it has never worked: the ghostly loop has always appealed to me so I just kept it in hopes one day it would become something. it has, now. the title is just one of those lines one may say a lot in their lifetimes, no matter how hard they’ve tried, “it has never worked”.
if they’re running, there’s a runaway bus coming: cosmic spasm and a floating tune. it’s all about the atmos.
when i fully understood why some people wanna die: a piece of a song I composed when I was in my first band. It just sounded so good when it was pitched down, I had to create something with it.
a heart transplanted twice: did you know a transplanted heart can be transplanted again? I didn’t! And, yes, it can, according to what I learned from watching a very popular soap in brazil many months ago.
i say i am never late but we both know sometimes i am: I grew older being very proud of the fact I was always a very punctual person and then one day I realized I was no more and that made me sad, the feeling of losing everything, even self-control
the next dying generation: or how to use sounds you rip off a song you absolutely love by a band very few know of.
the days off afternoon sleep i truly do hate: the saturday afternoon naps I absolutely love.
prematurely aging bones: months ago I found out I’ve got prematurely aging bones and have been taking new pills, more pills (…) ever since.
feel it closing in: shortly before my old band died, a guy who could play the accordion came and joined us. we jammed, it was beautiful and it went nowhere. I’ve never met him again. he’d emailed me a file, some seconds of him playing that accordion. one day I found that file and… a piece of it has become “feel it…”. so simple, so beautiful, so touching.
gimu’s words about each single track of this album.

each single track of this album makes you feel the bittersweet melancholy of this tired planet spinning in the void. go and buy this tape, it’ll will make you feel at home, somehow.

  • günter schlienz – the norman tapes – metaphysical circuits

This time, synth artisan / Cosmic Winnetou chief Guenter Schlienz graces Metaphysical Circuits, with his third tape of 2013. An enchanted analogue essentiality.

Recorded on the shores of Normandy (yes, outdoors!), “The Norman Tapes” flawlessly merge Schlienz’s trademark minimalist synthesizer harmonization with environmental recordings (wind, waves, gulls – decidedly ambient in themselves.) Supreme lo-fi aural driftin’.
