  • cloaked light – plain curtain – arbor

    $6.00 Add to cart

These early four-track experiments from Peter Friel’s Cloaked Light project offers a look into focus. With the slowest subtlety changes grow, only perceptible through reflection. A new form of seeking to understand; a non-linear music, offering a space of contemplation to look forward and behind. On A Long Green Hall Friel shifts meaning and reorients the place of speech in a Lucierian experiment with self-help tapes. On But I’m Trying, subtle tonal expansions mirror the manipulation of speech on the previous track, though without the recognizable markers of language the result is more obscured. Each track offers insight to the others processes. Recorded in Summer 2009, these tracks are some of the earliest from the project, a precursory inquiry to the tapes on Ekhein and Monorail. Upcoming split 12” EP with Pale Blue Sky further explores the nature of tonal interactions and non-linear potentials of sound. In an edition of 125 copies with full color cardstock covers and labeled tapes.

  • mirror to mirror – a personal reality – arbor

    out of stock

Alex Twomey’s Mirror to Mirror project continues a long standing tradition of Southern California artists focused on introspection and slow simplicity. Inspired by long roads and large open spaces; as well as their place within the daily repetition, finding sense within the nonsense. Light washes of painterly composition; evolving harmonies transform, turning in on themselves. The first track, ‘Laughing and Understanding’ , was developed last winter on the California tour with Infinite Body, Pedestrian Deposit, Earn, Cloaked Light, and Pale Blue Sky. In an edition of 150 copies with professionally duplicated/imprinted cassettes and cardstock covers.

  • brendan murray – inveterate

    out of stock

Brendan Murray’s consistent output for the past decade has revealed an underlying concern for the working of sonic material. Inveterate, containing a single, extended 90 minute recording follows this line of thought; looking inside of a sustained moment developing in such a way that difference and similarity can no longer be distinguished. Establishing itself as itself by attempting to present the sound from all possible angles and orientations. Nonlinear developments; viewed from the outside as a long blur. Recorded September 2009 at Weirdo Records. In an edition of 150 copies with professionally duplicated/imprinted cassettes and cardstock covers.

  • earn – lacewing

Two very simple and minimal mandolin-based ambient pieces recorded to 4-track one summers day in Los Angeles. Songs for the passing of a day and where the time goes.

  • earn – performance

    out of stock

Two full length live recordings. Ranging from an earlier, more long-form set in Chicago 2009 to a more recent set of several pieces recorded this previous fall in St. Louis. Personally, this release serves not only as a document of “Performance” but also to illustrate the sometimes strange dynamic between the person playing, the people attending, and the place it’s all occurring in.

  • earn – hell on earth

Pure bliss-float. I don’t know how he keeps a sustainted tone so rich, while you can almost hear little patterns sticking out now and then. Truly transcendental.

  • the accidents – demo colors

    $6.00 Add to cart

Debut release from the mysterious?? Cleveland, Ohio unit, The Accidents. Not limiting themselves to any “genre”, “Demo Color” has genuine variety within it’s 11 tracks and manages to maintain a cohesive center. Lush synthesizer and drum machine arrangements, heartfelt acoustic guitar and cassette work. With central themes of disaster and loss, particularly in America in the last century, there is a strong emotional core to this release not often heard in synthesizer based music at this moment in time. Expressing something beyond the surface and incorporating an extremely human narrative somewhere it is often lacking
